Television screens across the world showed the image of an enraged Scott Smith, who was arrested at a June 22 Loudoun County, Virginia school board meeting, struggling with police
at the meeting. A meeting that was ultimately deemed an “unlawful assembly” after many attendees vocally opposed the school board’s proposed policy on transgender student bathroom use.
As a result of the viral video showing his arrest, Smith became the poster child for what the National School Boards Association has since suggested could be a form of “domestic terrorism”: a white blue-collar male who showed up to harangue obscure public servants on his local school board.
Indeed, the National School Boards Association cited Scott Smith’s arrest as an example of the sort of incidents that, they said, might justify invoking the anti-terrorism PATRIOT Act on U.S. citizens.
The establishment media portrayed Mr. Smith as a bigot, an ignorant redneck, pretty much everything except what he is – a parent outraged that his daughter was raped and sodomized on school property by a so-called transgender student.
Minutes before Smith’s arrest at the school board meeting, the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) superintendent lectured the public that concerns about the transgender policy were misplaced because the school system had no record of any assault occurring in any school bathroom.
What parent wouldn’t be enraged?
The school board and school administration not only covered up the rape of Mr. Smith’s daughter, but they also lied about it to smear Mr. Smith – and their lies and “woke” policy choices sent the assailant to another school where he violated another young girl.
What was the response of Democrat candidate for Governor of Virginia Terry McAuliffe and his allies?
McAuliffe has sided with the school bureaucrats and teachers’ union and attacked parents like Mr. Smith saying, “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”
McAuliffe’s Democrat allies attacked Mr. Smith and his daughter and sicced a Soros-backed Far Left prosecutor on him in attempt to get him jailed – while his daughter’s rapist walks free.
The whole sordid story of how McAuliffe Democrats worked in concert to cover-up the assaults and to marginalize parents like Mr. Smith is detailed in an investigative report for the Daily Wire by our old friend Luke Rosiak.
The most infuriating facts revealed in Mr. Rosiak’s report are the blatant politicization of the rape of Mr. Smith’s daughter and how Terry McAuliffe’s Democrat allies have used their positions to oppress Mr. Smith and his family.
As Luke Rosiak reported, on August 17, Smith faced court for two misdemeanors, disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice (resisting arrest), for the school board incident.
Elizabeth Lancaster, the Smith family’s attorney, was sure the charges would be dropped. Instead, Buta Biberaj, the county’s progressive, top elected prosecutor, who has close ties to the school board’s most liberal members, appeared in court to personally prosecute Smith for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. It is highly unusual to say the least that the top law enforcement officer in a county of 400,000 residents showed up to personally try a misdemeanor case.
But Buta Biberaj isn’t just any county prosecutor.
A key ally of Democrat Terry McAuliffe, and big player in Virginia progressive politics, Biberaj was elected by a 1% margin after George Soros paid $845,000 to support her bid. Her opponent, the Republican incumbent, spent $113,000 altogether, a more typical sum for a local race, reported Luke Rosiak.
What’s more, Biberaj, who is now facing her own recall, is so closely linked to the Far-Left faction of the Loudon County School Board and teachers’ union that she was an active participant in their anti-parent Facebook group and was eventually forced to recuse herself from the recall of vitriolic Leftist school board member Beth Barts.
Terry McAuliffe and his allies, like Buta Biberaj and Beth Barts, are everything that Loudon County parents and students have been subjected to and are protesting against. We urge our friends in Virginia to generate a massive turnout for the November 2 General Election and to get some justice for Scott Smith by voting Glenn Youngkin for Governor of Virginia.
