Sen. Ted Cruz Introduces Bill Revoking Federal Aid For Pro-HAMAS Student Protestors

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, along with some of his Senate Republican colleagues introduced the No Higher education Assistance for Mobs of

Antisemitic and terrorist sympathizing Students (No HAMAS) Act in direct response to the unlawful anti-Semitic, pro-Hamas encampments and riots that have taken over college campuses across the nation.

The No HAMAS Act would revoke federal student financial assistance for students who are convicted of trespassing, rioting, or damaging property while protesting at a higher education institution. Students convicted would lose their eligibility for any federal grant, loan, or work assistance.

Upon introduction, Sen. Cruz said, “Students who have been convicted of a crime for engaging in violent protest or other criminal behavior on college campuses must be held accountable for their actions. Under no circumstances should the federal government enable this lawlessness by providing federal student aid to students who are threatening Jewish students, vandalizing the campus, and taking over buildings. I am proud to support this commonsense legislation to stop federal aid from flowing into the pockets of students who willfully break the law in support of Hamas terrorists.”

Joining Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) are Senators Mike Crapo (R-ID), Jim Risch (R-ID),  Thom Tillis (R-NC), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Steve Daines (R-MT), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and Pete Ricketts (R-NE).

“Mobs of pro-Hamas students have flagrantly violated the law, destroyed campus property, and resorted to violence against fellow students and law enforcement. Hardworking taxpayers shouldn’t have to keep paying for the college tuition of convicted lawbreakers,” said Senator Tillis. “The No Hamas Act is commonsense legislation that will cut off federal aid for grown adults who are breaking our laws, spewing antisemitism, and openly embracing terrorists.”

“American colleges need to restore order and protect Jewish students on campus,” said Senator Crapo.“ Federal tax dollars should not fund the education of those who wish to threaten or harm fellow students, promote antisemitism or support terrorist organizations.”

“In Joe Biden’s America, hardworking taxpayers are forced to aid Hamas-sympathizing students who blatantly violate the law by trespassing and destroying campus property,” said Senator Blackburn. “There ought to be a clear lesson for these students: if you choose to break the law, you lose your federal assistance.”
