Where Were The Other 431 Members Of Congress?

Last week, after being rebuffed in their attempt to see some of the alleged participants in the January 6 Capitol riot being held incommunicado at the DC Jail, Republican Reps. Louie

Gohmert (Tex.), Paul A. Gosar (Ariz.), Matt Gaetz (Fla.), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) met with the media in front of the U.S. Capitol.

“The supervisor came down and was standing right here and turned her back on me. The other one said she won’t talk anymore and that we’re trespassers,” Gohmert said in comments to the press after the situation. “We’re in totalitarian, Marxist territory here. This is the way third-world people get treated,” he added.

Footage showed Gohmert, of Texas, and Greene, of Georgia, being intercepted by a guard while they tried to enter the building. According to reporting by Georgia Simcox of the UK’s Daily Mail, the group of House Republicans were accused of trespass while trying to visit some of the people held over the January 6 Capitol riots.

The conservative Republican legislators were told they were obstructing the entrance to the facility, and Greene told the group she has “great concerns” if the attitude is any indication of how they're treating their prisoners inside.

Gohmert said: “If they can consider us trespassers — [we] fund this facility, have top-secret clearance... We do inspect facilities, and I've never, ever — in the years I've been in Congress — ever run into an issue like this until this administration took over.”

You can see some of the interaction between Rep. Matt Gaetz and DC Jail employees through this link to the video:

During the press conference after the incident, Gaetz said the Representatives are concerned detainees are lacking access to evidence and concerned about their treatment, which is why they showed up at the facility to get a tour.

“How does the Biden administration expect us to participate in the representative republic when they deprive us of access to information?” Gaetz asked. “The questions we’ve asked have gone unanswered for months … What is Merrick Garland hiding?”

Taylor-Greene later called it an “abomination” during the press conference the representatives held after being denied entry, adding, “We went to this prison today as members of Congress to give oversight to a federal prison because we suspect there is a two-tiered justice system in the United States.”

Reps. Gohmert, Gosar, Gaetz, and Taylor Greene are, of course, right about there being a two-tiered system of justice in America, and one would think that all 435 Members of the House of Representatives would be equally concerned.

As our friend Rick Manning, President of Americans for Limited Government told Right Side News:

Because liberty matters. People’s due process rights matter. Reports of treatment coming out of the DC Jail are reprehensible. The only disappointment about this press conference is there weren’t 435 Members of Congress standing here, rather than four, because it takes a great deal of courage for those four members to stand up and say something’s wrong. We have to make certain that individual liberties are applied to everybody equally. Otherwise, we’re nothing more than a dictatorship.
We’re hearing that people are in isolation. We know that one of the prisons, one of the guards that came out and whispered under their breath the words, “white supremacist.” So you can imagine what kind of treatment you’d get from a guard who looks at you as “other” and who wants to take away your rights. The fact they won’t open up their system to evaluation by the people who have congressional oversight is a crime. It’s a violation of their basic trust.

Given that Democrats and their media allies have done everything in their considerable power to create and drive the narrative that the January 6 riot was an “insurrection,” it is obvious that the Democratic Party is the author of their inhumane treatment. So, we should not be surprised that they aren’t worried about the treatment of the Jan. 6 detainees.

What is astonishing, however, is that the other 208 House Republicans weren’t at the DC Jail or at least out in front of the U.S. Capitol to join Reps. Gohmert, Gosar, Gaetz, and Taylor Greene in demanding that the Jan. 6 detainees receive the same humane treatment and constitutional rights to a speedy trial, habeas corpus, effective legal counsel, a fair and impartial venue and the opportunity to see and challenge the evidence against them that any other defendant would receive.

The toll-free Capitol Switchboard is (1-866-220-0044) we urge CHQ readers and friends to contact their Representative to demand that he or she join Reps. Gohmert, Gosar, Gaetz, and Taylor Greene and get in the fight against the two-tiered system of justice being applied to those accused of participating in the January 6 Capitol riot.

Both Houses of Congress have been missing in action since they allowed Barrack Obama to serve as president despite not being a natural born citizen. All 535 members of Congress should have been impeached then for failing to uphold our Constitution then.

And they haven't gotten any better since, in all honesty.

You mean the LGBS diversity hire. She (?) will never get fired, no matter what is done or is said to a conservative member of Congress. In fact, throwing Rs off the property of a public building which they are obligated to oversee will be grounds for a promotion, I suspect.

So much to do, so little time. Hey, Republicans, add it to the to do list when you take over in 2022...then again, the Rs will probably do what they always do when they have majority power...cede it to the -rat party because the -rats call the Rs racist or something... and then the Rs whine when they're out of the majority again. And around and around we go, as we move further and further left as a country...because the Rs never ever say: This far and NO FURTHER.
